It is with great sadness and heavy heart that I write this page.
On Wednesday 13th April, 2011 our dear friend and coast walking colleague George Watson died.
George, in his 72nd year, had been diagnosed with cancer a few weeks earlier and his untimely death came as a great shock to his family and friends.
The idea to walk Scotland’s coast was George’s brainchild and his enthusiasm for the venture was an inspiration to us all. Although, due to arthritic hips, he was less mobile than most George enjoyed nothing better than the challenge of a hard day’s coast walk even though the many fences and gullies encountered caused a few amusing and no doubt painful tumbles. The end of walk drink, in George’s case a dark rum and coke (O.V.D. of course) was always welcomed as was the ‘blether’ with the locals in the pub.
The tides may have washed away the footprints George left on many beaches along Scotland’s coast but his warm, friendly and deeply caring personality has without doubt left everlasting impressions on his many friends.
George dear friend you will be sadly missed but never forgotten………….
