TARBET TO SCOURIE – 6 MILES 3 HOURS
MORRIS, DEREK, KEITH AND ALEX
TOTAL DISTANCE WALKED SO FAR 899 MILES
It was a wet and miserable outside when we got up this morning so after breakfast we all donned waterproofs. We parked the minibus at Scourie Jetty and Ken very kindly drove us back to Tarbet where we had finished off yesterday. We set off walking from the car park at Port of Tarbet up the hillside to the cliff tops. Handa Island was barely visible to our right across Handa sound through the fog and rain. Underfoot conditions were very wet and muddy and we decided to move inland and pick up the well used path which was shown on the map. For most of the six miles of this walk we moved between the inland path and the cliff tops but visibility was so poor there was nothing to view. The rain continued throughout this walk and we were happy when we rounded the point at Creag a Mhail to the finish at the jetty in Scourie Bay. After a change of clothes in the minibus we made the long journey home.
Our accommodation during this trip was at the Scourie Guest House. The rooms although a bit small were clean and comfortable. Breakfasts were excellent and proprietor Ken very helpful in assisting with transport.
Summary; A very wet miserable day. Underfoot conditions were wet and muddy but not dangerous. Visibility poor so not a lot to see.
Highs; The change of dry clothes at the end.
Lows; Wet, wet, wet
