DAY 56
FRIDAY 21ST OCTOBER, 2011
SANDWOOD BAY TO SHEIGRA – 8 MILES 4 HOURS
MORRIS, DEREK, KEITH, PHIL, AND BILL
TOTAL DISTANCE WALKED SO FAR 849 MILES
Three days walking was planned for this trip with the six and a half hour journey making the first and last day’s short walks. We set off early and after our usual stop for breakfast at Inverness we arrived at Sheigra and set off walking at about 1300hrs. As our last walk left the coast at Sandwood Bay we decided we should restart there but chose not to walk back in on the path from Blairmore and instead followed a vehicle track from Sheigra to Cnoc Poll a’ Muhrain then back to the coast at Rubh an Fhir Leithe. Conditions were difficult with rain and winds making the marshy underfoot conditions hard work. We followed the cliff tops to Rubh a Bhuichaille before turning round and making our way along the cliff tops to Cnoc an Staca then down to the graveyard service road at Sheigra. Daylight was fading quickly and the weather had not improved much so we ended the days walk here.
Summary; A short afternoon walk in conditions which make it difficult to say many good things about it.
Highs; None really other than its good to be back on the coastal trail again.
Lows; None
