DAY 112
THURSDAY 19 MAY, 2016
CORRIE TO BRODICK
7 MILES 3 HOURS
MORRIS, GEORGE, BILLY, JOHN, STEWART, BILL, JAMES, ALAN, BRIAN AND PHIL
DISTANCE WALKED SO FAR 1458 MILES
Our accommodation for our three night stay on Arran was at the Invercloy Hotel in Brodick. Like most hotels and B & B’s on Arran it was more expensive than comparable accommodation on the mainland. That said it was very clean and comfortable with friendly staff. The breakfasts were substantial, well cooked and good quality.
After breakfast we made the journey back to Corrie where we started the day’s short walk. It was dull and overcast when we set off from Corrie following the Arran Coastal Way which at this part in on the A841 road. Thankfully the road walk was brief before we headed onto a forest road and into the woodland on the west side of the road. Although very few Arran Coastal Way signposts were evident we found our way through Merkland and passed Brodick Castle before rejoining the A841 near Cladach. It had started to rain heavily as we followed a path through the golf course along the sea edge into Brodick and the end of the days walk.
Summary; A very easy walk using the Arran Coastal way
Highs; Enjoyable….no particular highlights.
Lows; We got wet.
